Background

From a young age, I always knew I wanted to work with people.  My career choice in education felt natural, working with students of all ages and fostering learning in an inclusive environment. Over time, I noticed my role as a trusted adult in school buildings, and my ability to offer support to others through a variety of challenges. The shift to psychotherapy developed authentically, as I became aware of my lasting impact with students and colleagues alike. Noticing an increase in the stress levels of youth as they navigated education, peer relationships, personal identity, and life decisions, I decided to shift focus. Now, I bring nearly two decades of teaching experience, and work with thousands of students of diverse backgrounds, to my clinical practice. My background in education taught me the power of patience, structure, and individualized support—skills that shape how I guide clients through personal growth and healing.

In my personal life, I am a mother to two children, and recognize the challenges that come in juggling the many roles of a parent, spouse, sibling, child, and friend. Motherhood has deepened my understanding of emotional development, resilience, and the many challenges faced at different life stages. My lived experiences have strengthened my ability to hold compassionate, nonjudgmental connection with each client. I also know firsthand what it is like to sit on the other side of the therapy room, with vulnerability, uncertainty, and hope. My own therapeutic experiences have helped shape my practice, understanding that growth isn't always linear and that insight alone doesn't always create change.

I consistently aim to work from a collaborative, strengths-based approach and believe that meaningful change happens when we feel seen, supported, and empowered. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply in need of a space to process, I'm here to walk with you at your pace, with warmth and authenticity.

“We know from experience and the growing body of supportive literature […] that the therapeutic relationship a counselor forms with each client can be the most powerful tool for helping clients change.”
